This division consists of Part Time Officers, Records Section, Asset Management, Technology Management, and the Training Unit. The division is also responsible for initial budget planning, security liaison with other departments, implementation of the TSA Security Plan, and hiring.
The Training Unit ensures all officers exceed Florida’s minimum training standards through continuous monthly training. This includes legal updates, de-escalation techniques, mental health awareness, firearms proficiency, active shooter response, and defensive tactics.
The unit oversees the Field Training Officer (FTO) Program, preparing new officers for duty. It is also responsible for maintaining officer certifications, ensuring CJIS compliance, and overseeing the safe operation and condition of all weapon platforms. Through structured training and compliance efforts, the unit enhances officer readiness and operational effectiveness.
The Part-Time Officer Program consists of highly experienced officers dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the traveling public in and around TSA checkpoints. They work closely with full-time officers to maintain a secure environment.
The Asset and Technology Management unit oversees the police department’s inventory, including fleet, weapon systems, portable radios, and body-worn cameras. It manages technology systems such as in-car cameras, computers, airport cameras, and license plate readers while ensuring optimal system performance.
The unit maintains CAD/RMS functionality, resolves technical issues, and implements system updates. It also researches and recommends new technology to enhance operations, testing and deploying system changes for accuracy and effectiveness.
The Records Unit manages manual and electronic records, including evidence custody documents, property receipts, and related reports. It processes public records requests, handles requests from the State Attorney’s Office and other agencies, and redacts reports, documents, and videos per Florida law.
The unit operates various computer systems, ensuring accurate data entry and maintenance within the Records Management System (RMS). It is also responsible for crime data reporting, FIBRS/NIBRS validation, and ensuring compliance with state requirements. Additionally, the unit oversees citation entry and submission to the county.
