The Lee County Port Authority Police Department provides many benefits, below are a few of the genereous benefits package that we offer.
The Lee County Port Authority provides certain educational expense reimbursement for classes and/or coursework completed through an accredited school, college, university authorized correspondence course, trade or other accredited institution. The Port Authority is committed to the growth and development of all its employees.
It is the policy of the Lee County Port Authority Police Department to allow employees to continually improve their skills, knowledge, and abilities as the day-to-day operation of or department is dependent on our employees performing at peak levels. Officers who are eligible can receive up to $2.65 per hours based on time and acheivement benchmarks.
The Lee County Port Authority Police Department strongly encourages all officers to seek advanced/specialized classes to prepare for career enhancement and promotional advancement. Each achievement to a Senior or Master level position identified will trigger a 5% increase in pay.
Must live within a 50 mile radius, all vehicles are equipped with In-Car Video, BWC, and Radar if certified. Majority of the vehicle fleet is under 3 years old and all vehicles and traffic equipment are calibrated per Florida State Statute. Drawer system in the rear with all provided equipment such as First Aid Kit, AED, Stop Sticks, etc.
All uniforms and equipment are provided by the Police Department at no cost to the employee. Dry cleaning services are also available for employees to maintain a professional appearance while on duty.
All regular full-time employees will receive an annual PTO bank on, or before, the first business day of each calendar year. The Port Authority will annually BUY BACK the unused hours in each employee's PTO bank. 75% of the employee's hourly rate of pay for employees with less than 6 years of continuous years and 100% for 6 years or greater.
The Police Department has polcies on providing guidance and maintaining a proactive wellness program for department members. The wellness program is intended to be a holistic approach to a member's well being and encompasses aspects such as physical fitness, mental health, and overall wellness. We prioritize member wellness to foster fitness for duty and support a healthy quality of life for department members.
Employees are paid (regular scheduled hours x1) for LCPA recognized holidays regardless if they work or not. If the employee is scheduled to work, they will compensated at the OT rate (X1.5) for every hour they work plus the holiday pay (scheduled hours). Also given time off for birthday if schedules allows.
The FRS consists of two primary retirement plans and other nonintegrated programs administered under Chapter 121, Florida Statutes. The primary plans are the FRS Pension Plan and the FRS Investment Plan. Nonintegrated programs include the State University System Optional Retirement Program (SUSORP), the State Community College Optional Retirement Program (SCCORP), and the Senior Management Service Optional Annuity Program (SMSOAP).

The Police Department shall administer a training program that WILL exceed the standards of the federal, state, local and Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC) training requirements. It is a priority of the department to provide continuing education and training for the professional growth and development of its members.
A regular employee may be granted, upon request, bereavement leave with pay, due to defined relatives. Employees who work an 80 hour biweekly schedule are eligible for 40 hours of bereavement leave, 84 hours biweekly employees are eligible for 42 hours.
